SB Race Engineering Ltd – Service & Workshop Terms and Conditions


1. Definitions

1.1 “SBR” / “we” / “us”: refers to SB Race Engineering Ltd.

1.2 “The Customer” / “you”: refers to the person or company commissioning work or services from SBR.

1.3 “The Work”: means all services undertaken by SBR for the Customer, including but not limited to restoration, servicing, repairs, race support, or other work relating to the Customer’s vehicle(s) or associated activities.

1.4 “Support Work”: includes any of the following services: transportation of the Customer’s vehicle(s) to and from events, provision of mechanics or personnel to service and maintain vehicles at events, and any other related facilities or services provided for the Customer’s benefit.

2. Estimates

2.1 All estimates provided by SBR, unless explicitly stated otherwise, remain valid for acceptance within 30 days from the date of issue.

3. Terms of Payment

3.1 All invoices are payable in pounds sterling without deduction within 14 days of the invoice date, or at the time of collection of the Customer’s vehicle, whichever occurs first, unless an alternative date is specified on the invoice. Payment at the time of collection must be made by cash, card, or bankers draft, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

3.2 SBR reserves the right to charge interest on overdue invoices at a rate of 4.5% above the base lending rate of our bank (or any replacement rate). SBR may also recover reasonable costs incurred in collecting overdue payments, including legal fees.

3.3 All invoices are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate unless otherwise stated. Quoted prices are net of VAT unless explicitly indicated.

3.4 Invoices will be issued on completion of the Work, or monthly in arrears, whichever is sooner. Invoices will detail labour costs, parts, materials, and specialist services used. SBR reserves the right to add a reasonable markup to the cost of sourcing and providing parts, materials, or specialist services.

3.5 Vehicles not collected within 14 days of notification of completion may incur storage fees of £45 per week, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4. General

4.1 SBR may subcontract any part of the Work where specialist services or parts are required.

4.2 SBR reserves a lien over all property in our possession for any sums due. We may sell or dispose of such property after 28 days’ written notice and apply the proceeds to any outstanding debt. Any remaining balance will be accounted to the Customer, after which SBR is discharged of liability.

4.3 Ownership of all parts and materials supplied or fitted by SBR remains with us until all financial obligations of the Customer to SBR are fully settled.

5. Support Work

5.1 Where SBR provides Support Work, the following charges apply:

  • 5.1.1 Weekday labour (excluding bank/public holidays) is charged at our standard hourly rates, up to a maximum of 10 hours per day.

  • 5.1.2 Weekend and bank/public holiday labour is charged at standard rates plus 50% for up to 10 hours per day.

  • 5.1.3 Travel, food, and accommodation costs for mechanics are charged at cost.

  • 5.1.4 Vehicle transportation costs are charged at cost plus 10%.

  • 5.1.5 Vehicle hire, insurance, tools, and staff personal injury cover are charged at cost.

5.2 Costs for Support Work shared among multiple Customers may be apportioned at SBR’s discretion.

6. Storage of Vehicles

6.1 SBR may provide secure dry storage subject to prior agreement:

  • 6.1.1 Storage is charged at £45 per week or part thereof.

  • 6.1.2 If the Customer does not insure the vehicle via Kingfisher Insurance Services, SBR may insure the vehicle under our policy, with the cost passed to the Customer.

6.2 No storage charges apply for vehicles undergoing Work in our workshop.

7. Force Majeure

7.1 SBR is not liable for delays or failure to perform obligations caused by factors beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, strikes, or transport disruptions.

8. Notices

8.1 Any notice under these Terms must be in writing and sent by email, facsimile, or first-class post to the recipient’s address. Notices are deemed received the day sent for email/fax, or two days after posting for first-class mail.

9. Law and Jurisdiction

9.1 These Terms are governed by English law, and the Customer agrees to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, except where SBR opts to use the courts of another jurisdiction.

10. Bank Details and Payment

10.1 Bank account information will not be provided online; please contact SBR directly to request. SBR can provide a secure digital payment link for deposits and final invoice amounts.
