FERRARI 458 NOVITEC EXHAUST – WITH FLAP REGULATION
VALVED SYSTEM
From stock, the Ferrari 458 is quite noisy at high revs, but the sound quality is lacking—it’s just loud without character, sounding flat and boomy. At low rpm, the car is nearly silent. Many owners attempt to fix this by fitting remote controls or jamming their OEM valves open. However, this solution makes the car sound harsh at low rpm and doesn’t improve the flat blare at high rpm.
The real solution for better sound is more costly but worth it: equipping the car with a sports exhaust that is optimised for power and backpressure from 0 rpm. A proper system designed to enhance the sound with valves both open and closed, starting right from tickover rpm, is essential.
The exhaust system on the 458 can be divided into three main sections, each of which Novitec offers to replace the restrictive original Ferrari components. These sections are:
- Rear silencer (replaced by a valve-operated, remote-controlled Novitec sports exhaust)
- Catalysts (replaced by high-flow sports catalysts)
- Manifolds (replaced by backpressure-optimised race manifolds)
The two stages we usually recommend are:
Stage 1
- Novitec sports rear silencer (with optional integrated valves and remote control)
Stage 2
- Novitec sports rear silencer (with optional integrated valves and remote control)
- Novitec 100-cell high-flow sports catalysts with heat protection
- Plug-in module to prevent the check engine light
There is also a Stage 3 option that includes replacing the manifolds as well, but we sell less of these this due to the complexity and cost of supplying and fitting the manifolds.
Most 458 owners opt for the basic but very impressive Stage 1 exhaust, which is the sports rear silencer only. More information on Stage 2 is available upon request.
There is a lot of debate online and in forums about the “best” exhaust brand for the 458. Based on our experience with all major exhaust brands, we are confident that the Novitec exhaust for the 458 is the best choice.
No other brand offers:
- A significant increase in volume over stock
- A substantial difference between “open” and “closed” settings
- The unparalleled scream and pitch that makes the 458 sound so distinctive
