FERRARI F12 NOVITEC POWER OPTIMISED EXHAUST
With Flap Regulation
Ferrari F12 owners seeking an enhanced auditory experience have the option to choose from three different stages of upgrades:
Stage 1: This involves the installation of sports rear silencers equipped with valves and a remote control.
Stage 2: The most popular upgrade among F12 owners includes sports rear silencers with valves and a remote control, along with the addition of an X-pipe to replace the central muffler.
Stage 3: For those seeking an extreme sound boost and performance upgrade, this stage includes sports rear silencers with valves and a remote control, an X-pipe to replace the central muffler, sports catalysts, and a Novitec ECU upgrade, which provides an additional 70 horsepower and delivers an extremely powerful sound.
The most popular option we offer at SB Race Engineering is Stage 2.
During Stage 2, we replace the original rear silencers with Novitec Sport Rear Silencers and swap out the X Pipe to replace the stock central section while adding a remote control unit for easy management. The standard F12 is designed to operate quietly and to elicit an enjoyable exhaust note, owners typically need to push the car aggressively. When the original exhaust valves eventually open, the sound produced is pleasant but somewhat subdued and muffled. While not unimpressive, it has the potential for greatness. Another issue is the abrupt transition from closed to open, which might give bystanders the impression of aggressive driving.
The Novitec Stage 2 exhaust kit transforms this experience entirely. Instantly, the car emits a fuller, deeper, and louder sound at lower RPMs, settling into a robust large-V12 idle. The note remains deep at lower revs and then, at around 3000 RPM, transitions into a higher-pitched exhaust note that grows louder linearly with throttle input. This is a critical improvement because the stock exhaust operates in a sudden manner, with the valves opening all at once. With the Novitec system, the exhaust note intensifies gradually and smoothly. As the revs climb, the exhaust tone evolves, and beyond 5000 RPM, the car produces an exhilarating high-pitched motorsport-like sound, a stark departure from the stock system’s flat bark. The contrast from the standard setup is significant. When lifting off the throttle, the valves remain open, unlike the stock system, resulting in a gradual reduction in volume and captivating pops and crackles during deceleration. Furthermore, the package includes a remote control that allows you to open and close the Novitec exhaust valves at any point in the rev range. This feature enables you to reduce the car’s volume for long-distance driving, early morning starts, and other situations where discretion is desired.
Now, the question often arises about which exhaust brand is the best for modern V12 Ferraris. We want to make our stance clear: We have extensive experience with all major exhaust brands and based on installations we have done previously, Novitec’s silencers for the F12 are the standout choice.
Novitec’s silencers distinguish themselves in several ways
- They offer a significant increase in volume compared to the stock exhaust.
- They produce an unparalleled, spine-tingling scream and pitch.
- They deliver a substantial difference between the “open” and “closed” states.
In contrast, other exhaust brands for modern V12 Ferraris tend to disappoint. Despite what you may find on internet forums or YouTube clips, these alternatives often sound too quiet, closely resemble the stock exhaust, and lack the excitement that a Novitec exhaust provides. We firmly believe that Novitec’s exhaust system is the superior choice for F12 owners seeking a remarkable improvement in sound and performance.
